The total amount of hours I've spent in London can be counted on one hand... however, like most of you, I've heard about the wonderful "fish and chips" numerous times... and finally, I don't have to get on British Airways to try them out.
London Fish and Chips is a set in the small shopping center in Cary that used to house Green Papaya and a number of other attempts at good Asian restaurants. Thankfully, I think this store is around to stay. Though the outside is green and a bit bland, the door opens to an inviting, clean and bright restaurant. The menu is written out on a chalkboard above the kitchen area; but why bother with the menu? You know what you came for, right?
In addition to fish and chips, battered sausages and a few other London favorites are on the menu.... maybe next time. Lots of bottled beers were available also.
We had the haddock & flounder & shrimp. The haddock was huge - about an inch thick filet, served hot and crispy to the table. Each bite was full of steamy goodness. The flounder was a bit disappointing after the haddock, only because it was so much thinner. The shrimp was large and wonderfully breaded, but just didn't have the impact as the haddock. The chips (french fries) were hand cut - nothing spectacular personally, but it rounded out the London experience. The orders are huge!
Though we love the NC Seafood place at the Farmer's market - this will be our (and every british expat's) stop for fish!
