Carnivore's Anonymous: Chamas Brazilian Steakhouse
During college, there was this Brazilian all you can east place in Cambridge, a few blocks from Harvard Square. $26; all you can eat meat - some sixteen different types. Unfortunately, that place has long since closed.
The gold standard of Brazilian Churrascaria is Fogo de Chao - unfortunately, I doubt the Triangle will ever have one.
Currently, there are about 3 or 4 Brazilian BBQs locally; a few in Raleigh, one in Brier Creek, and one tucked away in the slowly rejuvenated Brightleaf Square in North Durham. Chamas, located in the back corner of Brightleaf Square, is by far our favorite locally. All you can eat grilled meats, a wonderful salad / anti-pasto bar, and the delightful Brazilian Cheese breads (made with tapioca to be gluten free!)
This is a great restaurant for a special event - or just for restocking your body on plenty of iron. All the cuts are great - and endless!
Five star Mexican Dining
Never thought you would here Five star and Mexican in the same sentence? With the vast majority of Mexican restaurants in the Triangle, and throughout the US - that would be true. However, Jibarra is clearly changing that perception. Jibarra serves some of the most exquisite food and flavors, with a Mexican heritage. Duck, seafood and more are all on the menu, with a great appetizer and drink list to match!
A great date or special event place, Jibarra is a bit more pricey, but worth every penny! Enjoy!
